For enhanced safety, the front and second-row seat shoulder belts of the Infiniti QX60 have pretensioners to tighten the seatbelts and eliminate dangerous slack in the event of a collision and force limiters to limit the pressure the belts will exert on the passengers. The Jeep Grand Cherokee L doesn’t offer pretensioners for its second-row seat belts.

The QX60’s pre-crash front seatbelts will tighten automatically in the event the vehicle detects an impending crash, improving protection against injury significantly. The Grand Cherokee L doesn’t offer pre-crash pretensioners.

The QX60 Autograph has a standard front seat center airbag, which deploys between the driver and front passenger, protecting them from injuries caused by striking each other in serious side impacts. The Grand Cherokee L doesn’t offer front seat center airbags.

With its standard Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, the Infiniti QX60 is better at preventing collisions with pedestrians than the Jeep Grand Cherokee L, according to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety:

Both the QX60 and the Grand Cherokee L have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, available all wheel drive, around view monitors and driver alert monitors.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety does 40 MPH moderate front offset crash tests on new cars. In this updated test, results indicate that the QX60 is much safer than the Grand Cherokee L:

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration does side impact tests on new vehicles. In this test, which crashes the vehicle into a flat barrier at 38.5 MPH and into a post at 20 MPH, results indicate that the Infiniti QX60 is safer than the Jeep Grand Cherokee L:

Side impacts caused 23% of all road fatalities in 2018, down from 29% in 2003, when the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety introduced its side barrier test. In order to continue improving vehicle safety, the IIHS has started using a more severe side impact test: 37 MPH (up from 31 MPH), with a 4180-pound barrier (up from 3300 pounds). The results of this newly developed test demonstrates that the Infiniti QX60 is safer than the Grand Cherokee L:

Instrumented handling tests conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and analysis of its dimensions indicate that the QX60 is 1.6% to 3% less likely to roll over than the Grand Cherokee L.

The Infiniti QX60 achieved a “Top Safety Pick” rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) for the 2025 model year. This recognition was based on its impressive performance in the small overlap frontal crash test, updated moderate overlap front crash test, updated side impact crash test, headlight evaluations, and pedestrian crash prevention testing. The Grand Cherokee L is not a “Top Safety Pick” for 2025.

Warranty

The QX60 comes with a full 4-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The Grand Cherokee L’s 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 24,000 miles sooner.

Infiniti’s powertrain warranty covers the QX60 1 year and 10,000 miles longer than Jeep covers the Grand Cherokee L. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 6 years or 70,000 miles. Coverage on the Grand Cherokee L ends after only 5 years or 60,000 miles.

The QX60’s corrosion warranty is 2 years longer than the Grand Cherokee L’s (7 vs. 5 years).

Infiniti pays for scheduled maintenance on the QX60 for 1 year longer than Jeep pays for maintenance for the Grand Cherokee L (3 years vs. 2 years).

Reliability

A reliable vehicle saves its owner time, money and trouble. Nobody wants to be stranded or have to be without a vehicle while it’s being repaired. Consumer Reports rates the QX60’s reliability 33 points higher than the Grand Cherokee L.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2025 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Infiniti vehicles are more reliable than Jeep With 67 fewer problems per 100 vehicles in the first three years of ownership, J.D. Power ranks Infiniti higher than Jeep.

Engine

The QX60’s 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder produces 26 lbs.-ft. more torque (286 vs. 260) than the Grand Cherokee L’s 3.6 DOHC V6.

As tested in Motor Trend the Infiniti QX60 is faster than the Jeep Grand Cherokee L:

Transmission

A nine-speed automatic is standard on the Infiniti QX60, for better acceleration and lower engine speed on the highway. Only an eight-speed automatic is available for the Grand Cherokee L.

Tires and Wheels

The QX60’s tires provide better handling because they have a lower 50 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Grand Cherokee L’s standard 60 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the QX60 has standard 20-inch wheels. Smaller 18-inch wheels are standard on the Grand Cherokee L.

Suspension and Handling

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the QX60 is 1.5 inches wider in the front and 1.5 inches wider in the rear than on the Grand Cherokee L.

The QX60 Autograph AWD handles at .81 G’s, while the Grand Cherokee L Overland pulls only .75 G’s of cornering force in a Motor Trend skidpad test.

For better maneuverability, the QX60’s turning circle is .9 feet tighter than the Grand Cherokee L’s (38.7 feet vs. 39.6 feet).

Chassis

The QX60 is 6.8 inches shorter than the Grand Cherokee L, making the QX60 easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The design of the Infiniti QX60 amounts to more than styling. The QX60 has an aerodynamic coefficient of drag of .32 Cd. That is significantly lower than the Grand Cherokee L (.357) and many sports cars. A more efficient exterior helps keep the interior quieter and helps the QX60 get better fuel mileage.

As tested by Car and Driver while cruising at 70 MPH, the interior of the QX60 Luxe AWD is quieter than the Grand Cherokee L Limited 4x4 (67 vs. 68 dB).

Passenger Space

The QX60 has 1.2 inches more front headroom, .8 inches more front legroom, 1 inch more front hip room, 1.4 inches more front shoulder room, .4 inches more rear hip room, 1.7 inches more rear shoulder room, 2.3 inches more third row hip room and 3.7 inches more third row shoulder room than the Grand Cherokee L.

For enhanced passenger comfort on long trips the QX60’s middle and third row seats recline. The Grand Cherokee L’s third row seats don’t recline.

Towing

The QX60’s standard towing capacity is much higher than the Grand Cherokee L’s (6000 vs. 3500 pounds).

Servicing Ease

J.D. Power and Associates surveys of service recipients show that Infiniti service is better than Jeep. J.D. Power ranks Infiniti 7th in service department satisfaction (above the industry average). With a 19% lower rating, Jeep is ranked 21st.

Ergonomics

The QX60’s front and rear power windows all open or close fully with one touch of the switches, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths, or when talking with someone outside the car. The Grand Cherokee L’s standard rear power window switches have to be held the entire time to open them fully. Only its driver’s window closes automatically. The Grand Cherokee L Overland/Summit’s .

The QX60’s rain-sensitive wipers adjust their speed and turn on and off automatically based on the amount of rainfall on the windshield. This allows the driver to concentrate on driving without constantly adjusting the wipers. The Grand Cherokee L’s standard intermittent wipers change speed with vehicle speed, but can’t turn on and off or change speed based on changing rainfall.

The Grand Cherokee L’s cornering lamps activate a lamp on the front corner when the turn signal is activated. The QX60 Autograph’s standard adaptive cornering lights turn the actual headlight unit up to several degrees, depending on steering wheel angle and vehicle speed. This lights a significant distance into corners at any speed.

The Infiniti QX60 has power folding mirrors that offer unparalleled convenience while maneuvering in tight places or parked. With the mirrors folded it’s easier to walk past and help prevent parking damage. The mirrors can be quickly unfolded when the driver is ready to leave. Power folding mirrors are only offered on the Grand Cherokee L Overland/Summit.

The QX60 has a standard heated steering wheel to take the chill out of steering on extremely cold winter days before the vehicle heater warms up. A heated steering wheel costs extra on the Grand Cherokee L.

Compared to traditional radio, the Infiniti QX60’s standard SiriusXM satellite radio provides an unmatched listening experience. Its extensive coverage guarantees consistent, crystal-clear reception across the continental U.S., and access to over 100 channels dedicated to a multitude of genres, including music, news, sports, talk shows, and comedy, many with only limited commercial breaks. Satellite radio costs extra on the Grand Cherokee L.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Infiniti QX60 has a standard wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the center console. Wireless charging costs extra on the Grand Cherokee L.

Recommendations

Consumer Reports® recommends the Infiniti QX60, based on reliability, safety and performance. The Jeep Grand Cherokee L isn't recommended.
